Social Media Policy
Effective: August 18, 2026
Authentic Perspectives Counseling & Wellness Center
Authentic Perspectives Counseling & Wellness Center uses professional social media platforms for education, outreach, and general communication.
Because social media is public and does not provide the same privacy as the therapeutic setting, this policy establishes boundaries intended to protect client confidentiality and the therapeutic relationship.
Professional & Personal Accounts
Professional social media accounts are maintained separately from personal accounts.
Current and former clients should not send friend or follow requests to personal social media accounts. Personal social media connections with clients are not accepted.
Clients are welcome to follow or interact with public professional pages. However, likes, comments, follows, shares, tags, or other interactions may be visible to others and could reveal an association with the practice.
Authentic Perspectives does not follow clients' personal accounts in return or engage in private therapy discussions through social media.
Social Media Messaging
Social media messaging, including Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, LinkedIn messages, TikTok messages, and similar platforms, is not used for therapy, scheduling, crisis communication, or clinical support.
Messages sent through social media may not be seen promptly. Administrative questions may be handled through approved practice communication methods. When clinical messaging is available as part of a client's service, communication must occur through the secure patient portal.
Email & Text
Email and text messaging are generally limited to administrative matters such as scheduling, billing, and appointment-related communication. They should not be relied upon for confidential therapeutic processing or emergency assistance.
Online Searches
Authentic Perspectives does not routinely search for clients online.
In unusual circumstances involving significant safety concerns, legal requirements, or another compelling clinical reason, limited online information may be reviewed when appropriate. Any clinically relevant action will be handled in accordance with professional and confidentiality obligations.
Reviews & Testimonials
Authentic Perspectives does not solicit testimonials or public reviews from current therapy clients. If a current or former client independently chooses to post a public review or comment, the practice generally will not confirm, deny, or otherwise publicly acknowledge that the individual is or was a client.
This protects confidentiality even when the individual has chosen to disclose the relationship publicly.
Tags, Check-Ins & Public Interaction
Clients should be aware that tagging the practice, checking in, commenting publicly, or interacting with practice content may allow others to infer a relationship with Authentic Perspectives. Clients may choose their own level of public engagement and are encouraged to consider their privacy before posting.
Emergencies
Social media accounts are not monitored for crisis or emergency communication. For an immediate medical or safety emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For suicide or emotional crisis support in the United States, call or text 988.
